Chief Master Brian Lee's self-defense training is a 45-year endeavor that began with his own determination to "adapt & overcome" after a tragic car accident left him disabled in his right arm as a teen. It is his heart's desire to help others experience the confidence, strength, discipline, and fun that developing martial arts skills can bring! His life was forever changed the day he stepped onto a mat, and yours can be too. As a seasoned instructor, he provides an equal measure of patience and encouragement, along with the highest quality of martial arts training in a safe and supportive environment. He is all-in when it comes to helping students achieve their goals, whether it's improving their physical fitness, learning self-defense basics, or simply having fun. He strives to instill discipline and focus, respect, and confidence in every person he teaches, utilizing techniques like the open hand chop to emphasize power and precision. 🥋 About Chief Master Brian Lee 7th Dan Martial Artist | Instructor | Christian | Motivational Leader Chief Master Brian Lee is a 7th Dan martial artist and lifelong student of discipline and focus, honor, and faith. With over four decades of experience in martial arts and self-defense training, he has inspired countless students and instructors through his commitment to personal growth, resilience, and spiritual purpose. At just 17 years old, Brian’s life changed forever after a devastating auto accident that nearly claimed his life and left his right arm permanently disabled. What could have been the end became a new beginning. Through his faith in Jesus Christ, Brian found not only physical healing but also a renewed mission — to use his experience to uplift others and prove that true strength comes from perseverance and faith. It was his privilege to train under Grand Master JB Chung (one of the few martial art instructors willing to mentor him despite his physical disability) for 20 years, resulting in a 2nd Dan Black Belt. He was a member of the World Tae Kwon Do Association under Great Grand Master Duk Sung Son from 1978 – 1998. During that time, he competed in approximately five tournaments per year, showcasing his skills in techniques like the open hand chop, and also participated in seminars on various aspects of Tae Kwon Do, including how to referee competitions. After moving to Tampa, Florida in 1998, he studied Hapkido for more than a year under Grand Master Jae Park. After marrying Chris and relocating, he spent nearly 20 years under Grand Master Bill Burchett in Clermont, Florida, where he achieved his current rank of Chief Master 7th Dan Black Belt. His experiences with Grand Master Burchett include the 2017 World Championship in Busan, Korea, various local Hapkido seminars, and a large association sanctioned event in San Francisco. He has been a member of the World Kido Federation from 2004 – Present under Great Grand Master In Sun Seo. Because his own studies will never end until he steps into Glory with Jesus, his Lord & Savior, he has spent the past four years developing Aikido. He was recently awarded 1st Kyu by Master Sensei Bill Hague, and he doesn't intend to stop! His masterful blend of all three arts enables him to reach and teach a diverse group of people with various needs and interests, including those interested in self-defense basics. Throughout more than four decades of study, mentoring, teaching, and training, Master Lee simultaneously worked a full-time job as a Certified Surgical Technician for 40 years. No matter how long or grueling his days were in the O.R., he never missed an opportunity to take or teach a martial arts class. Retiring as a CST in 2024 has given him the freedom to share his expertise with those who have a desire to learn.
